Deep Cotton "We're Far Enough From Heaven Now..."

I heard this song in a commercial for Sonos (the one where Janelle Monae is dancing aound her house listening to this song). The group is Deep Cotton and the song is called "We're Far Enough From Heaven Now We Can Freak Out." I haven't been able to get it out of my head since. They kind of remind me of Fishbone mixed with that 90's group Whale. Please take a listen. It might make you dance around as well. Odd, but catchy.

Mos Def in Tokyo, Japan

This is not new, but it is a pretty awesome documentary of Mos Def promoting his last CD in Tokyo. I really enjoyed seeing him go shopping for clothes and eating in Tokyo. I'm not making it sound very exciting, but it really is for some reason.

"Catfish" TV Series

I really enjoyed the documentary "Catfish," it really blew me away. This reality MTV series follows around the same people who made the film. This time around, they are helping out others who are in similar situations where they think they are being deceived in online dating relationships. Looks like they show up and ambush them sometimes...Awesome! I will be watching. It airs Monday nights on MTV.

Solange's New "True" EP

Solange's new 7 track EP "True" was released this week and it does not disappoint. All of the tracks are incredible. She finally has found a nice musical sound and style. Her new vibe is electronic soul sound and differs from the 60s style sound of her previous album. My favorites are "Locked In Closets" and "Some Things Never Seem to F**cking Work." Check out "Locked In Closets" below if you haven't already.

Bjork's New "Mutual Core" Video

This is all kinds of awesome. It looks kinda like the earth is making out with itself. It is the latest single from Biophilia. Please check it out below.

"Gambit" Trailer

This looks like it could be pretty good. I enjoy both Cameron Diaz and Colin Firth, my only problem is that Cameron's "Texan" accent is ridiculous! I've never heard anyone who is from Texas who has that strong of an accent. It is annoyingly distracting. This is why the world thinks that all Texans where cowboy boots and ride horses eveywhere (and have tumbleweeds blowing around on the streets). She is a complete stereotype of a Texan, it's offensive (I'm being overly dramatic here). It was originally to be released in November, but has been pushed back to an undetermined 2013 date (bad sign).

Idle Warship's "Driving Me Insane"

I kind of like this video. Didn't realize that it was released as a single. Even crazy and in a strait jacket, Res still looks pretty cute.

"Deception" Series Trailer

This new series is going to be a mid-season replacement on NBC for 2012-2013. It stars the beautiful Meagan Good and Laz Alonso. It appears that Megan's character is a detective or private investigator that is going to go undercover to solve a murder. looks promising (the promising ones don't always last though). It gets my vote.

"Alex Cross" Trailer

This looks really interesting to me. I'm kind of distracted by Tyler Perry (outside of his Madea outfit and wig) as the star of the film, but I'm willing to give him a shot. I'm more interested in Matthew Fox (of "Lost" fame) playing a creepy serial killer villain. I'm pretty excited by this, I enjoy his acting so much. The film opens October 19th.

Solange releases her new single "Losing You"

I love this new single and video. If the rest of her album sounds like this one, then it will be great. Her dance moves are also pretty cute. I really appreciate that Solange does not follow current radio trends and forges her own path (her sister Beyonce could take some notes here). The single drops today, 10/2/2012. Solange plans to release a 7 track EP called "True" on November 27th and then a full-length album sometime in early 2013.

Even though this film has no stars that I recognize, the concept and effects look interesting enough. Opens Friday Sept. 7th.

Mysterious Cities of Gold 2012 Trailer

It has been 30 years since the original series aired. It was my childhood favorite cartoon which ended on an incomplete note. Now new seasons of episodes are being made to finish the story. I am beyond excited about this new trailer (the only bad thing is that it is in French). Even in French, it is still exciting to me. I'm hoping they will be dubbed in English eventually. I love that it hasn't been modified too much and still pretty much looks the same (they did update the theme song a bit. Here's the new trailer.

Howard Stern's Judge Judy Prank

My cousin tuned me into this, it is hilarious. Howard Stern pranked this woman on the phone with recordings from Judge Judy's show. The funny thing is that they never figured out that the recording was Judge Judy and not an actual person (I feel like I would have recognized her voice right away.) They call this woman 3 times and it is hilarious how her attitude increases with every phone call. Please listen to this, too funny!

Cloud Atlas Trailer

I read the Cloud Atlas novel a couple of months ago and liked it. Very interesting story, it will be really nice to see how it comes together as a film. It was such a complex story involving multiple characters and storylines, spanning several centuries and reincarnation. It was almost too complex of a story. If she can pull it off, the Halle Berry character Meronym should be extremely exciting. Her character was a future warrior mystic that involved horse riding and fight scenes. Should be interesting (and lengthy to say the least). Part of the film is directed by The Wachowskis (The Matrix) and the other half is directed by Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run). The film opens in October and stars Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Hugo Weaving and Susan Sarandon (amongst others).

Kim Kardashian confronts H8tr

Mario Lopez has a show (that I've never seen before)called H8tr where he tricks viewers into thinking that they are auditioning for a Pop Culture reality show. He asks the viewer which celebrity they hate the most and then he confronts that viewer with the actual celebrity to try to change their minds. This one with Kim Kardashian was pretty great.

Tweet Tuesdays

The "Southern Hummingbird" Tweet has jumped on the bandwagon and is now giving away free music every Tuesday (just like Timbaland, Kanye, and Swizz Beats). I have always enjoyed her beautiful singing voice and look forward to every Tuesday to see what she has to offer us. It has been a little while since her last album, so the free tracks have been a treat. Head on over to her official website to scoop up the free tracks at www.iamsimplytweet.com. So far, she has released 4 tracks. "Trouble" and "Day Dreaming" have been my favorites so far.

Kimbra's "Cameo Lover"

"Prometheus" Trailer

I really want to see this. Some say it is a prequel, Wikipedia says that it happens within the same "Universe" that the Alien movies take place in. Regardless, it still looks awesome and has different aliens. I'm pretty much down for any film that has creepy aliens. I'm excited.

Maxwell's TwoNight Tour

Well, we are still waiting for his second installment of the "SUMMERS" trilogy, Maxwell is serving up a mini-tour where he will be playing his entire catalog over two-night gigs. Kind of interesting and would be something to see. Not many of our favorite artists are willing to perform their entire catalogs onstage. This will at least tide us over until he puts out the new disc (hopefully this summer). I know he is usually worth the wait, but this waiting feels more like torture. Here are the tour dates: 7/20 - Los Angeles, CA @ Staples Center * 7/21 - Los Angeles, CA @ Staples Center ^ 7/27 - Atlanta, GA @ Phillips Arena * 7/28 - Atlanta, GA @ Phillips Arena ^ 8/03 - Newark, NJ @ Prudential Center * 8/04 - Newark, NJ @ Prudential Center ^ * Performing 'Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite' and 'Embrya' ^ Performing 'Now' and 'BLACKsummers'night'

Frank Ocean "Thinking about You"

I could listen to this song all day long. I really wish I could sing like Frank Ocean. Song is excellent, but this video is very bizarre. It kind of freaks me out. It says it is "official," but it is so strange that I have my doubts. It is not new, but still deserves a spin or two. Frank please put out your new album. I eagerly await the release.

Mary J Blige's Controversial Burger King Ad

LOL. This is ridiculous. I didn't find this so offensive or anything. I just think her song is so silly. I do understand the racial connotations, but at least it was a white guy who wanted to buy the chicken wrap. I would still think it was silly, even if a white person were singing the song. I have to admit, the song did get stuck in my head though "Crispy chicken, fresh lettuce, three cheeses..." She should release the song as a single.

"Dark Shadows" Trailer

I have to admit, this is not what I thought it was going to be. I'm not familiar with the '60's soap opera series original, but I didn't think it was campy in this way. I do enjoy Tim Burton's films and his collaborations with Johnny Depp, so I'm sure I'll probably enjoy this one as well. Also glad to see Michelle Pfeiffer in another of Burton's films (she was pretty fantastic as Catwoman in his "Batman Returns"). It opens in May 2012.

Halle Berry's new film "Dark Tide"

This might be good (if not, at least we will get to see Halle Berry in a bikini). She stars with current fiance Olivier Martinez. Isn't this just Jaws redone? It will be released March 30th as video on Demand (bad sign).

FAU Student Attacks Student and Professor

OMG, this was forwarded to me from a friend. This Florida Atlantic University student completely loses it during a class lecture about evolution. She attacks another student and the professor, she was eventually tazered outside by security. I know people have different opinions and perspectives, but she took this to a whole other level. She has some other issues obviously.

This new ABC drama/thriller series looks pretty interesting. I've been wondering where Ashley Judd has been keeping herself. Kind of looks like a female version of 24 or Alias. Could be exciting, time will tell. I'll try it out.

M.I.A's "Bad Girls" Video

The always interesting and sometimes controversial artist known as M.I.A. has a new video for "Bad Girls" which will be from a upcoming album this summer. My only complaint is that this song is not really new (she already gave this one away for free on her Vicki Leekx Mixtape 2 years ago)but is still a great song and always stood out on the mixtape. I'm also not really feeling her choreography for the video. But nobody's perfect, right?

Tin Sparrow "For You"

I heard this song on a TV show and couldn't get it out of my head. It was really haunting me, so I had to look it up to see who sang the song and ended up buying their EP from Itunes. The EP is called "From the Sun" and has 4 tracks (all of which are pretty nice sounding. Just thought I would share.

Little Dragon's "Crystalfilm"

This is a new video by indie electro favorites Little Dragon. It kind of creeps me out with the live scarecrows with creepy human eyes. Good song though. It made me very curious to see where the video was going with the live scarecrows and the little girl. I was thinking something scary was gonna happen (I remember seeing that horror movie from the 80's called "Dark Night of the Scarecrow" where a slain man becomes a scarecrow to avenge his death). Take a look below.

Beetlejuice 2

I got so excited when I read about this. It is still in deveplopment at this point, but there are talks about both Michael Keaton (the original star) and Tom Burton (the original director) both being involved. It is being written by "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" author Seth Grahame-Smith, who says that he does not want to do this without Michael Keaton as the star of this sequel story which would take place 26 years after the original story. I always thought there was more story there. I think they should bring back Winona Ryder's character "Lydia" just for kicks. I always thought this was one of the most original and exciting stories to this day. The character was so crazy that he would still be up to no good even after all this time. I really do hope that this happens, Michael Keaton would still be fantastic in this part, even after all these years.

14-Pound Baby By Natural Birth

I saw this on Good Morning America. This Iowa woman had a nearly 14-pound natural born baby, and 15 months before that she had a another 12-pound baby. Also with no c-section or epidural. Good Lord! Her kids had better be nice to her on Mother's Day when they get older. Labor Pains indeed. Amazing! video platform video management video solutions video player

NBC's "The Firm" Trailer

I have to admit I wasn't that interested in this show (which is a television adaptation of the feature film which starred Tom Cruise and the popular novel by John Grisham). I thought oh great, another show about lawyers. What peaked my interest was the inclusion of Juliette Lewis as a star of the show. I usually enjoy her and wanted to see if the show was going to be any good. I watched one episode and it was pretty exciting. It definitely made me want to see another episode. Give it a watch. It airs Thursday nights at 9:00 pm on NBC.

Santigold's "Big Mouth"

Santigold (formerly known as Santogold) has released a new single that you can download for free on her website. I heard that she is reportedly talking about Katy Perry and Lady Gaga in the song, but I could find no evidence of this (being that I couldn't really understand what she is even saying in the song). It's a commentary on the fakeness within the music industry. It's kind of all over the place, not sure how I feel about yet. I'm sure it will probably grow on me.
You can download the song from her website at www.santigold.com.

"Underworld: Awakening" Trailer

I have to say that I love this series and that I am so happy that they continue to make them. Kate Beckinsale rocks my world in that leather outfit. I love the plots for this film series, with the ongoing war between vampires and werewolves. I hope this fourth installment is as good as the others. It will be released on 3-D and Imax on January 20th. Review: I saw this film on opening weekend and it was pretty fantastic. Action-packed with great special effects. The 3-D effects really helped the film. I wasn't expecting too much out of a fourth installment, but this film exceeded my expectations. It is the number one grossing film for this weekend, I hope it does well, so they will continue the series.

Frank Ocean "Songs For Women"

I have fallen in love with this song, this mixtape and this artist. Can't stop humming and singing the songs. If you can find his free mixtape, please do. It is incredible and called "nostalgia, ULTRA" and is one of the best things I have heard in a while. He superbly mixes genres and his voice is as smooth as silk (he does say the occasional cuss word). His Wikipedia page says that "MTV considers his mixtape a cult classic." I would have to agree with them.

"What To Expect When You're Expecting" Trailer

This film is part of that new trend where they throw a million and one popular people people into one film and give them all small roles. I'm undecided about this one, which won't be coming out until May. It's loosely based on the best-selling books for expectant women (weird, but whatever). It does have both Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Lopez (both are bonuses for me). Here's the trailer, could be funny.
